Texas mattress shop closes over 'tasteless' 9/11 ad

A Texas mattress shop is to close after facing a backlash for a 9/11-themed advert described as "tasteless". At the end of the advert staff knock over two towers of mattresses Miracle Mattress faced strong criticism after its "twin tower sale" offered every mattress sold on the anniversary of the attacks for the price of a smaller twin mattress. In the clip, staff fall into two towers of mattress, knocking them over. "We'll never forget," the presenter of the clip says in the now withdrawn advert. Miracle Mattress owner Mike Bonanno said that "effective immediately, our Miracle Mattress store will be closed indefinitely", in a statement released on Friday. "We will be silent through the 9/11 Anniversary to avoid any further distractions from a day of recognition and remembrance for the victims and their families." Zuckerberg and Chan aim to tackle all disease by 2100

At a press conference in San Francisco, they said their ultimate goal was to "cure, prevent or manage all diseases by the end of the century". The funds will be distributed by the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative, which they created in December 2015. Tech leaders are increasingly turning their attention to health. Earlier in the week, Microsoft said it intended to "solve" cancer by  using artificial intelligence tools . Google's DeepMind unit  is working with the NHS  to find a way to use computers to more accurately diagnose diseases. And  IBM and MIT announced a tie-up  earlier this week to develop AI-based systems that could help clinicians improve the care of elderly and disabled patients.
